The PDL (Premier Development League) is part of the United Soccer Leagues Soccer Pyramid and encompasses clubs from the USA, Canada & Bermuda.
The Competition will feature 73 teams in four geographic conferences -
Central, Eastern, Southern and Western Conferences – and nine divisions. Central Conference: Great Lakes, Heartland; Eastern Conference: Mid Atlantic, Northeast, South Atlantic; Southern Conference: Mid South, Southeast; and Western Conference: Northwest and Southwest.

The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is a knockout tournament in American soccer. The tournament is the oldest ongoing national soccer competition in the U.S. and is currently open to all United States Soccer Federation affiliated teams, from amateur adult club teams to the professional clubs of Major League Soccer. For this coming tournament, the PDL was allocated 16 berths. The regular season division champions and finalists from the 2011 PDL Season earned berths into the first round proper of the Open Cup – GPS Portland Phoenix as 2011 PDL Northeast Division Champions will enter the first round.
